What is FR treatment for fabric? Fire Resistant / Flame Resistant / Fire-retardant / Flame retardant fabric that we refer to as being ‘Treated’ is a fabric that has been chemically treated to give it its flame-resistant properties.

Our Flame Retardant fabrics are treated to British Standards. We offer two types of coating:
- FR under BS5852 Crib 3 Low Hazard suitable for professional upholsters making furniture for domestic use
- FR under BS5852 Crib 5 Medium Hazard suitable for furniture to be used in public spaces of medium hazard.
Our FR coating is the chemical substance added at the backside of the fabric. FR coating changes the weight of the fabric and makes the fabric stiffer. The coating could be white or black. Also, the fabric may shrink up to 2%.
